The 501st Legion, Garrison Carida will be sponsoring at toy drive September 19th and 20th at Roar 2009. They will collecting star wars toys to be donated to regional children's hospitals.
Garrison Carida® is a group of community-minded volunteers serving Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia who, through portraying the characters of the Star Wars films, participate in charity events, promotional appearances, and public gatherings to benefit the community.
Garrison Carida® visits 9 children's hospitals each year (Pittsburgh, Hershey and Philadelphia). During these visits volunteers spend time with children and give each child an un-opened Star Wars Toy, distributing an average of 80 to 100 toys each visit. All toys are donated, so every year we try to restock our supply. Its events like these that help us, help bring smiles to sick or injured children.
Garrison Carida is a part of the 501st Legion, The World's Definitive Imperial Star Wars Costuming Organization. Endorsed and preferred by Lucasfilm Ltd.
The Garrison has participated with groups including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Walk Now For Autism, Sunshine Foundation, The Franklin Institute, and various regional children's hospitals.
